"Righteous Recon exists because most reviews are bought. We don't test gear; we aggregate truth. Federal safety data, expert consensus, real performance specs. Stripped of every marketing lie."
Okay so here's the thing. I didn't plan this. I was just... doing what I always do. Someone mentioned a new wetsuit. And then I was gone. Six tabs. Twelve tabs. A Reddit thread from 2019 that somehow led me to a forum about carbon fiber bike frames at 1am on a Tuesday. You know how it goes. Or maybe you don't. But if you're here, you probably do.
I have a problem with research. Not like a "I should work on that" problem. More like a "my cart has been sitting at checkout for four days because what if there's a better option" problem. Totally healthy. Completely fine. Moving on.
So somewhere between tab forty-seven and questioning every life decision I've ever made, I thought — what if I just built the thing? Like the actual thing. An AI system with a nuclear playbook that scrapes every corner of the internet, filters out all the noise, and lands on something real. Not sponsored. Not inflated. Not written by someone who got a free product and suddenly loves everything about it.
And real means something specific here. You know that review? The calm one. Three stars. Specific. Emotionally stable. Gives you a real reason. Doesn't mention the box. Doesn't mention the smell. Actually talks about the product after six months of real use. THAT guy. I built this entire thing trying to be that guy. At scale. Powered by AI. Fueled by a concerning amount of caffeine, work stress, and a hope that projects like this might just actually land me my next pay raise. Big TBD.
I live this stuff. Triathlons. Snowboarding. Scuba. Backpacking. I'm not rich — I'm on a budget like most of you. So every category gets three tiers: Budget, Mid, Premium. Three products each. I pick a favorite but take it with a grain of salt. I don't personally test all of this stuff. I mean — okay, I might own a few of them because I decided to pay a bill next pay period instead. So what. That's called commitment to the craft.
Every product page has links to Amazon, REI, wherever the thing actually lives. If you click one and buy something — I might make a few bucks. Dead serious on both of those things. The uncertainty and the possibility. Either way the recommendation doesn't change. That's the whole point of this thing.
Anyway. Welcome. Hope this saves you three hours. Or at least gives you better tabs to have open at 1am.
Righteous Recon is an independent research site run by one guy with too many browser tabs and a genuine obsession with finding the truth in a sea of fake reviews. I am not a doctor, certified gear specialist, professional athlete, or your mom. Nothing here is professional medical, safety, financial, or legal advice. Products change, prices change, and the internet lies sometimes — always verify before you buy. Some links are affiliate links meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase through them at no extra cost to you. This does not influence my recommendations — if anything it means I need the good stuff to actually convert. Righteous Recon participates in the Amazon Associates Program and other affiliate networks. Performance and durability of any product vary by individual. Use your brain. Stay safe out there. And for the love of everything — read the return policy before you buy a wetsuit.
