METHODOLOGY
How we find the truth about products.
WHAT WE ARE
Righteous Recon produces AI-researched product analysis and recommendations. Our content synthesizes data from expert reviews, safety databases, and verified user reports through a documented forensic methodology. It is not consumer reviews or personal testimonials.
THE EIGHT LAYERS OF TRUTH
Every product is researched through eight independent verification layers: Manufacturer Claims, Independent Safety & Standards Data, Expert Consensus, Longitudinal User Data, Failure Pattern Analysis, Small Brand Discovery, Version & Lifecycle Intelligence, and Environmental & Sustainability Assessment.
CATEGORY-ADAPTIVE SCORING
We calibrate scoring weights per subcategory based on what actually matters. A wetsuit is scored differently than a GPS watch because different attributes determine real-world success. Four factors — Performance, Durability, Value, and Satisfaction — are weighted differently for each product category.
THE 80/100 THRESHOLD
Our minimum publish threshold is 80 out of 100. Products scoring below 80 do not appear on our site. We would rather have empty slots than bad recommendations. Products scoring 75-79 are published as Notable Near-Misses — trust-building content with no affiliate links.
EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE
Scores are finalized before affiliate links are applied. No product has ever been added, removed, or rescored based on affiliate availability. We earn commissions through affiliate links at no extra cost to you, but commerce never touches editorial.
THE EMOTIONAL STABILITY FILTER
We filter review sources for diagnostic signal. Calm, methodical, data-driven assessments are weighted heavily. Emotionally unstable reviews — the angry one-star rant, the suspiciously glowing five-star post — are discarded. Time-in-field data from verified owners (6-18 months post-purchase) carries the most weight.
CORRECTIONS
If we got something wrong, we want to know. Contact us and we will investigate. Corrections are noted on the affected page and documented internally.
